The music streaming app is currently testing a new Snapchat-style Stories feature alongside some of its playlists. For instance, on its Christmas Hits playlist, a series of artists including Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez, Megan Thee Stallion, and Pentatonix use a series of short video clips to share personal anecdotes about the festivities and also give a sneak peak in their songwriting processes. The feature will allow users to share video clips that may contain snippets of songs and album art along with allowing them to introduce their personal playlist. Tapping it reveals an interface that’ll be familiar to anyone who’s ever watched an Instagram or Snapchat story, allowing you to tap on the left or right of the screen to skip through a collection of short video clips. It is important to note that while other platforms, give users the freedom to view and upload the story on the app’s homepage, in Spotify, however, the users will need to open a playlist to view the story and look for the story section directly on that page. The company said, “We regularly conduct several tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests pave the way for our broader user experience while others serve only as an important learning. We don’t have any more news to share for the future at this time.”
