The sleek iPhone SE (2020) comes in an ‘iPhone 8’ like design. The phone weighs 148g and is 7.33mm thick. Moreover, it features an aluminium frame and both rear and front are all glass. It comes in three colour variables including Black, White and Red. Notably, the phone has an IP67 rating for water resistance. Furthermore, it also features Apple’s most recent A13 Bionic processor. iPhone 11 Pro also features the same A13 Bionic processor. The processor is also capable of on-device machine learning. It is undoubtedly a powerful processor though its utility gets somewhat limited in the iPhone SE. Moreover, due to the small screen size, the display is comparatively smaller but the phone offers great viewing angles and colour reproduction. It’s True Tone’ feature automatically adjusts the colour temperatures based on the ambient light. Moreover, the phone also offers HDR 10, Dolby Vision, as well as Haptic Touch. Its connectivity options include dual-SIM functionality, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, NFC, and stereo speakers. In terms of charging support, the phone supports wireless charging as well as 18W fast charging. But, users will have to separately buy the 18W adapter as the phone only comes with a basic 5W charger. However, one of the major disappointments for many has been its solo rear camera setup. When most Android phones are offering multiple rear camera sensors at less than half its price, Apple has stuck to a single rear camera of 12-megapixels and a front camera of 7-megapixels. Besides, its many relative shortcomings in features; Apple’s secure software and access to the iOS ecosystem would be some of its biggest selling points. iPhone SE 2020 is currently priced at Rs. 42,500 for its base 64GB model. Its higher storage variants offering 128GB and 256GB memory are priced at Rs. 47,800 and Rs. 58,300 respectively. While the phone seems a little dated for its launch year, it may still find buyers among the company’s enthusiastic fans. Moreover, it can also be a good buy for users who are already invested in the Apple ecosystem and are looking for a pocket-friendly update to their current iPhones from several years. However, if you were hoping for some of the company’s high-end features such as Face ID recognition or comparative specs to similarly priced Android smartphones, we won’t recommend the purchase.
